Landscape Design and Installation

McDowell Landscape Services will create a unique landscape design, which is based on the combination of Mark McDowell’s experience, education, creativity and each customer’s individual desires & needs. Many factors are considered for each project, as each one is different. Long term growth, cold hardiness and sun exposure are just a few items that need to be taken into consideration. Once the design is complete, the project will be scheduled for installation. At McDowell Landscape Services, Inc., we consult with you on:

  • Design ideas – whether your style is tropical, traditional, Florida Friendly or something in-between…we will create a custom design to fit your outdoor space.
  • Favorite plants – whether you prefer flowers, shrubs, trees, or palms…we will incorporate them into the landscape design. We also consider long-term growth, cold hardiness, and sun exposure.
  • Outdoor lighting considerations – outdoor lighting will enhance your visual appeal while providing security for your family. We will select appropriately designed fixtures and professionally install them for you.
  • Ongoing maintenance – we always consider your desired maintenance level when selecting your plants. If your goal is to minimize your landscape maintenance, we are experts in low maintenance landscaping.

Once your design is complete, the project will be. A “walk through” meeting will take place after installation to review the completed project, answer questions, discuss future care, as well as any other items that need to be addressed.

BUTTERFLY GARDENS

Adding a butterfly garden is a wonderful way to add beauty and fun to your outdoor space. When planning a butterfly garden, there are several things you must consider for a Florida butterfly habitat:

Adult food sources – these are the plants that provide food sources such as nectar for the adult butterflies. There are many varieties of flowering plants to choose from.

Host plants – these are the plants that butterflies use to lay eggs and as a food source for emerging caterpillars. There are certain types of plants that butterflies prefer and they will sustain some insect damage which is part of the natural butterfly cycle.

Water – butterflies prefer to drink from wet sand or soil and not from open water.

McDowell Landscape Services, Inc. can create a beautiful butterfly habitat for you and your fluttering guests to enjoy.  We’ll plan your butterfly garden with our local butterfly species in mind. Also, we will select a variety of native host and food source plants so  your welcome guests come to will live and return year after year. It is important to add that butterfly gardens should be as free of pesticides as possible. Enjoy your beautiful butterfly habitat!
